Built for Florida Offshore Fishing

What is IntelliSwell?

IntelliSwell is a real-time marine conditions dashboard built specifically for Florida Offshore Fishing. We aggregate live data from the NOAA National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) and the National Weather Service (NWS) into a single, glanceable view — so you can make go / no-go decisions quickly before heading out.

Data sources

  • NOAA NDBC — Live buoy observations including wave height, dominant swell period, wind speed and direction, gusts, water temperature, and barometric pressure from stations across Florida's Atlantic coast and the Gulf of Mexico.
  • NWS Miami — Coastal and offshore marine zone forecasts for Florida waters, updated throughout the day.
  • Tide & Solunar data — Local tide predictions and sun/moon rise-set times for planning your time on the water.

How it works

The dashboard automatically detects your location (via browser geolocation or IP-based approximation) and sorts the buoy network by distance — nearest stations first. The primary assessment card highlights conditions from the closest buoy with wave data.

Data refreshes every 2 minutes during active hours for the most current readings. Forecasts update every 15 minutes. When you return to the tab, the latest data is fetched automatically.

If wind or wave sensors report on different cycles, IntelliSwell backfills the most recent valid reading from the same station — so wind doesn't drop off the dashboard just because the latest buoy packet only carried wave data.

Coverage area

We monitor stations from the Florida Keys and Dry Tortugas up through the Treasure Coast and Space Coast on the Atlantic side, and from Key West through the West Florida Shelf and up to the Panhandle on the Gulf side. If you're fishing the reefs, running offshore, or cruising the Intracoastal, there's a station nearby.

Safety notice

IntelliSwell is an information tool, not a replacement for official marine forecasts or Coast Guard advisories. Conditions change rapidly at sea. Always verify the latest forecasts from NWS Miami and check local Coast Guard notices before departure. File a float plan and carry required safety equipment. Never rely solely on this dashboard for go / no-go decisions.
